Northstar Toolkit models every IRS 990 filing — line-item financials, executive compensation, and foundation grants — and serves it three ways: free search and org pages on this site, a clean JSON API for builders, and a free MCP server that connects Claude or any AI agent to the whole warehouse.
The data is public; access to it shouldn't cost thousands of dollars a year. The 990 base layer is free and stays free. Commercial API use is priced at a fraction of the enterprise directories.
Founded by brothers John and James Church.
We saw nonprofits stuck choosing between expensive tools and spreadsheets, and thought we could build something better. We're building Northstar to be a lever — professional tools that accelerate the missions of the organizations using them.
